New Residents Welcome
New Residents Welcome Party
The first New Residents Welcome Party held had approximately 150 people attending, the second had close to 300 people who had moved to the Village in the two years previous coming and enjoying the party. Each Welcome Party has been a unique and wonderful experience because the key parts of our community come together in one place at one time to welcome newcomers. It is indeed a rare occasion in any community for all the organizations, government, churches, businesses, and residents to be gathered in one room together, and rarer still for them all to be focused and working together on one specific goal –yet this is exactly what takes place at the New Residents Welcome Party.
Each party has refreshment and lots of food to enjoy from Kenmore restaurants as well as music and lots of give-aways. There are demonstrations and interactive displays; information of all kinds is available like the times of worship at Village churches, where to find some vinyl to spin, how to join a local club, learn about Village ordinances, and take out menus. There are many prizes to be won by the new residents attending the party –the past parties have seen us giving away a prize every ten minutes!

The 2015 New Residents Welcome Party was paired with the KVIS Valentine's Day Celebration and was held on February 14th. The ice skating rink at Mang Park was filled and prepared for outdoor skating while indoors there were games, music and crafts including lots of materials to make Valentine's cards. We had arranged for food trucks to be there and were very pleased that Rollin Joe and Cheesy Chick were able to make it. It had already been snowing for weeks but the snowfall the day and night before the event was enormous. Many hearty people still came to the Party and stayed for most of the time, snug in the warmth of the Cultural Center and new friendships.
New Residents Welcome Publication
The first way the Committee developed to welcome new residents to Kenmore was with a folder of information that was delivered by a member to the new residents home. The Committee has streamlined that presentation and now mails the welcome booklet which is filled with good information, inspiration, helpful facts, and valuable coupons and offers. Should you know of someone who has recently moved here, please let us know and we will make sure they are welcomed to Kenmore!
