Holiday Greens for Seniors
The Welcoming Committee joins with the Public Properties Committee to give the gift of freshly scented pine boughs to the approximately 200 senior residents living in the two towers of the Kenmore Housing Authority. Each person in the towers is treated to pine boughs carefully gathered and tied with festive ribbons, a candy cane inserted into the bow and a wish for a merry Christmas and holidays from the KVIS. Scent is one of our most powerful senses, able to bring memories to mind in the most vivid way and the fresh scent of the pine is welcomed by those who are often limited to artificial greens and decorations.
"It is absolutely delightful that the KVIS makes up the Christmas bouquets! What I do is remove the bow and candy cane for later and put it in a vase with water -it will last the whole month! I thank you again for your consideration in thinking of others and trust me -it is appreciated. Thank you." -Elaine Samson, Resident at the Kenmore Village Apartments
“The residents were thrilled with the greens, they truly love them! It was such a thoughtful gift and it really means something to our residents." -Virginia Robbins, Assistant Director KHA
