Commercial Real Estate Brokers and Agents Day Events
Whenever we ask village residents what, in their opinion, could use some improvement here, they’ll often mention our vacant retail and commercial spaces and their hope to see them filled. The Businesses and Commercial Properties Committees decided that one of the best ways for us to help this happen is to enlist the aid of commercial real estate professionals. We developed the concept of an event that we call Commercial Brokers and Agents Day or Brokers Day for short.
Why have Brokers Day?
We had determined that the purpose of Brokers Day is to show available Kenmore properties for sale or lease to those professionals who can most easily seek tenancy for vacant commercial spaces here, but then we had to find a way to do the following:
Ultimately, the Businesses and Commercial Properties Committees decided that we should invite the Commercial Brokers and Agents here to Kenmore and treat the occasion with the same care as if we were inviting them to our homes.
Past Brokers Day events
The first Brokers Day event was held on the second floor of the Municipal Building in the grand hallway overlooking the Village Green. We served the attendees breakfast, gave out generous gift certificates from area businesses and even raffled off an original painting by well-known village artist Rita Auerbach. We then took them on a tour of the properties available for sale or lease in Kenmore. The event was a success and prompted us to decide to hold a Brokers Day event the following year.
The second Brokers Day was a recession-friendly event. We sent bound presentations of Kenmore broker-protected available properties to all WNY Commercial Real Estate Companies along with a gift. Iskalo Development graciously sponsored this event even though the financial outlook was difficult for everyone at that time. Iskalo Development had purchased the former Kane-Doyle car lot property and was preparing to build a new distinctive property on the site.
Our 2010 Brokers Day event took place under a large tent placed on the lawn of Jack Hunt on Delaware Avenue; this site overlooks the new Iskalo Development site. The event was a cocktail party with tasty hors d’ouvres from village restaurants and beverages from Premier. There were some great gifts for our guests donated by KVIS members and businesses. We took our guests on an electronic virtual tour of available properties where each broker or listing agent spoke about the property to everyone else.
We also presented the Brokers and Agents with a bound copy of our Kenmore Village Businesses Survey Report at the 2010 Brokers Day event. This has become a very useful tool for area Commercial Real Estate Professionals in attracting businesses to Kenmore. Lindsey Sack of CBRE Real Estate commented, “Thanks so much for inviting us to your event yesterday. The surveys are especially helpful to all the brokers in our office.” The generous support of the following sponsors made this event possible: Iskalo Development, Plaza Group, Tranzon Auction Properties, the Buffalo Room, Dunkin Donuts, Mike’s Subs, Premier Prime Wines, Edward Jones, Torches, Jovis, and KVIS members.
Western New York area Commercial Real Estate Brokers and Agents were transported to available Kenmore properties in a trolley for the next Brokers Day event. The event was made possible with the generous support of Plaza Group; Tranzon Auction Properties; Sinatra & Company Realty; Montante Development; Foster Real Estate; Iskalo Development; Lake Shore Savings Bank; and O’Connell’s Bistro. The Businesses and Commercial Properties Committee works to make the events fun, festive, and productive. This event featured fun and light hearted adventures taking place at several of the available properties toured. At one location the Real Estate professionals were invited to play ‘The Kenmore Game.’ Questions about Kenmore were asked and prizes given for the correct answers. It was surprising to hear just how much the Brokers and Agents knew about Kenmore!
“Thank you for the excellent event yesterday. It was well done—good food, good prizes, good presentation. You’re to be complemented.” -Howard Saperston of Saperston Real Estate
“Thank you for the invitation. It was such a well-done event and lots of fun! Best of luck with the continued successes in Kenmore.” -Karen Kirst of Kirst Commercial Real Estate

We had determined that the purpose of Brokers Day is to show available Kenmore properties for sale or lease to those professionals who can most easily seek tenancy for vacant commercial spaces here, but then we had to find a way to do the following:
- Draw attention to Kenmore properties in a unique and memorable way.
- Let these professionals know that we’re proactive – that we support them in finding buyers or tenants for available village properties.
- Help them to know that we care about our business district and that our desire is to have interesting, vibrant, and viable businesses come here.
Ultimately, the Businesses and Commercial Properties Committees decided that we should invite the Commercial Brokers and Agents here to Kenmore and treat the occasion with the same care as if we were inviting them to our homes.
